Tiny Toe Dancer

She wanted to dance before she could talk
and walked on top of her toes
"watch me daddy dance for you,
you know I love you so"

Times were hard but she always knew
that someday she'd get her wish
To dance for him upon the stage
for her daddy, this special gift

Secretly she would practice
and sometimes show him how
The little things she taught herself
and this would make him proud

The years flew by much too fast
and dancing was pushed aside
More important things in the forefront
so her longing she had to hide

She was his Island Princess
and owned the sparkle in his eyes
He was daddy to the tiny toe dancer
who's love within her heart still lies

She never got to dance for him
upon the gilded stage
And her heart breaks silently
all alone, and sometimes afraid

Sometimes she feels like that little girl
who used to walk on top of her toes
