I have always had this feeling
and knew way back in my mind
This bond we share is no accident
it's been written down in time

A young man started years ago
keeping track of lives and such
Daily checking off minutes and hours
until two hearts were bound by trust

I felt as close, even closer yet
like your true sister from the start
And I guess what makes it sweeter
is that we are sisters in our hearts

Always a teacher, sharing your gifts
and with me having the patience of Job
Learning much from your guiding touch
and for perfection I practiced and strove

I hardly remember, it has been so long
that you have been a part of my life
The times before I shared with you
my heartaches, my loves, and my strife

The young man is no longer young
he has grown old, this powerful mind
Yet still he checks off minutes and hours
that old mans name is Father Time
